PRAXIS II Tests: An Orientation
Faculty PRAXIS II Professional Development
- Provide faculty with the PRAXIS Registration Bulletin in order that they may understand which tests students are required to take and when and where the testing occurs.
- Provide faculty with professional development for PRAXIS II Subject Assessment/Specialty Area Tests.
- ETS offers Praxis workshops for university faculty as well as prospective teachers. More information and pricing can be obtained by e-mailing praxisworkshops@marketingworks.com or calling 1-888-700-7970. A brochure containing information on the workshops is also available at http://www.ets.org/Media/Tests/PRAXIS/pdf/Praxis_workshop.pdf.
- Provide opportunities for faculty to take the PRAXIS II Subject Assessments in their specialty area. This is the ultimate way to ensure that faculty who teach these courses understand the nature and content of the PRAXIS II Subject Assessment/Specialty Area Tests. Faculty can request that their test results be sent directly to them.
- Provide faculty with feedback about student test results. Faculty members need feedback about how their students are faring on the PRAXIS II tests. The PRAXIS II results can provide a catalyst for encouraging and motivating faculty if the results are seen as an indicator of a job "well done" in teacher preparation and/or an opportunity to do an even better job.
- Provide opportunities for faculty to compare their course syllabi topics to the topic included in the PRAXIS II Subject Assessment/Specialty Area Tests.
