PRAXIS II Tests: An Orientation
Faculty Checklist for Student PRAXIS II Preparation
- Communicate to students what content they need to know.
- Highlight lessons that cover material.
- Remind students of content that will be on PRAXIS II.
- Discuss test questions that mimic PRAXIS II content questions.
- Give students timed testing.
- Incorporate essay questions similar to the format of Tests At a Glance in course assignments.
- Have students take practice tests in Tests at a Glance.
- Analyze strengths and weaknesses.
- Review areas that seem to be problematic.
- Debrief students after testing to gather feedback and impressions.
- Ask students to bring in their tests so that you, as their instructor, can assess areas of strength and weakness in subscores (universities only get the summary score, not the subscores).
- Consult with other faculty to discuss next steps.
- Modify classroom instruction as needed.
