PRAXIS II Tests: An Orientation
Provide Information to Students
Since the EPSB requires certified teachers
to have successful PRAXIS II assessments, students need PRAXIS II assessment
information early in their teacher education program. Schools of education
Web sites provide an accessible avenue for faculty and students. Institutions
can utilize their school Web sites to post vital PRAXIS II information
at a minimal outlay of funds and staff utilization.
Institutions need to become involved in the PRAXIS II experience, so they
must provide opportunities for student success. Some of the beneficial
actions that they can take include the following:
- Schedule PRAXIS II testing at own institution if possible.
- Have faculty assist in test administration and monitoring.
- Enter test scores in student records.
- Analyze the data to see if there are any significant differences between the students who did well and those who did poorly in terms of GPA, previous testing, or program area.
- Officially notify students of "pass" or "failure" on the PRAXIS II Subject Assessment/Specialty Area Tests.
- Share results with faculty.
- Host an ETS Praxis II workshop to train faculty/staff in interpreting score reports and/or use of test preparation material.
