PRAXIS II Tests: An Orientation

Tests and Content Areas Included in the PRAXIS II Series Assessment

The PRAXIS tests are a series of standardized assessments administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) to assist in the teacher certification process. Prospective teachers enrolled in a teacher certification program in an accredited institution may be required to pass several levels of PRAXIS testing, in addition to fulfilling program course requirements, for teacher certification.

PRAXIS II subject assessments measure knowledge of specific subjects that P-12 educators will teach, as well as general and subject-specific teaching skills and knowledge. These tests are one of the tools Kentucky uses to determine whether a prospective teacher possesses the knowledge necessary to begin practice in Kentucky's schools.
