Option 3: College Faculty Certification

You are a candidate for this route if you:

  • have a minimum of a master's degree in the academic subject for which certification is sought; and

  • have five years of full-time teaching experience or its equivalent (90 semester credit hours) at an accredited institution of higher education in the academic subject for which certification is sought.

If you meet these requirements, you will receive a Statement of Eligibility. After obtaining employment, you will receive a one-year Provisional Certificate. Upon successful completion of the Kentucky Teacher Internship Program (KTIP) during the first year of teaching, you will receive the Professional Certificate. (See 16 KAR 7:010 for a description of certificates.)
